"Ishan" represents a body of photographs documenting the rural edgelands nomenclature of North East Thailand, commonly known as "Isan" although this is often seen listed with multiple spellings (Esarn, Isarn, Isaan and Isan) all of which originated from the Sanskrit Ishan.). It is one of the poorest provinces of Thailand with a largely agricultural economy and it has an exceptionally hot and dry climate and prone to long periods of drought. This region rich in visual juxtapositions, banal "everyday" objects sit alongside revered ancient Buddhist offerings. Imaginative modifications of these everyday objects also provide rich visual material. This body of work was the catalyst for the South Korean photographic series entitled "Last Days of May"
